Question Uniform Selection

The pro ballplayers wear gray uniforms when traveling, white uniforms at home, and alternate uniforms on Sunday, holidays and special occasions. Am I right?

Are there any guidelines stating when to wear your navy, powder blue, red, cream or black shirts? Dark navy and powder blue shirts are no longer the colors of choice among MiLB and MLB umpires. Well, what umpire guidelines are in place to determine shirt color selection?

i wear red when hell freezes over, and the rest of them i (and the partner) go with whatever feels right. a lot of the time that feel is based on temperature. i try not to wear black for a double header in the middle of july unless im looking to lose 5 pounds that day.

We wear pwd blue or navy. If it's cool, we wear navy and warm to hot (whatever that means) we wear pwd blue. Most of the time, we take both. Sometimes may even switch if we have a DH.

Little League you can get by with alot more in my area. HS, navy is the only way.

I think Black looks good at night, and powder blue looks good for day games. Afternoon games, navy looks good.

Cream can be good on really hot days. I've actually seen a 3 man crew where the home plate ump wore black, and the base umps red. I thought it looked silly, but heck, what do I know about taste?

Well, since we're on the subject of uniform colors I might as well tell my horror story.

The UIC of one of the BR/CR leagues I was planing on working in has asked his umpires to all wear an orange polo shirt with black numbers for day games and a black shirt with orange numbers for night games. Both of course are just for Cal Ripken games and he wants the CR logo affixed to the breat pocket.

Now, that will be a cold day in hell if you know what I mean!

Tim.

Wink 3 (Cents) more

1) Hunter's Orange?

2) Do all the teams wear orange in the Cal Ripken league?

3) Hero worship gone over the edge there?

It's up to the UIC, unless there is an assigning body that dictates. For HS it's Navy. If there are no restrictions then I prefer Navy for night games and Powder Blue or Cream for day games, especially after Memorial Day. And I have changed between double headers.

I don't have a Black, but wouldn't mind having one. Red is out of the question.

i wear a different color 90% of the time in the second game, unless my partner only has one shirt on him, which usually isnt the case.

90% of the time, except when your partner only has one, which is "usually". How does this math work out?

I've noticed MLB guys only wear black, cream, or powder blue - with black being seen the most often.

Our state rules say either Navy or powder. It's the same for colt/legion in the summer. Rec league or over 30 you can wear whatever, but navy blue is the default for all leagues.

its not my fault, its the beer's fault. you should probably remove "usually" from the equation.
