Fed Casebook Situation 6.1.2 H

I noticed that the casebook ruling on this situation has changed this year from last year. Last years ruling was also 6.1.2 H. Last year the move was legal and this year it is not. Is this a typo or a change. Here is the casebook statement: F1, with both arms at his side in the wind-up position, first moves his glove to a position in front of his chest, stops his momentum, and then moves his pitching hand into the glove. Ruling(2005, legal) (2006, This is a illegal move.)

Good pickup. I believe you have read correctly. However, I believe a balk call would be a highly technical balk call in this situation.

I'd say as long as he's been doing that since the start of the game, I don't have much of a problem because its so technical. If that pause is a long one between the stopping and the moving the hand to the glove, I'll tell F2 to get out there and stop it.

Not meaning to open the can of worms on preventitive umpiring and the "we aren't coaches" debate.

I believe someone (in a position to know) has opined that this change is a "typo." I've seen nothing "official" on it from the FED, though.
