New this year:
Play 1-72C: B1 misses 3B on a home run over the fence. F6, on a dead ball appeal, appeals R1's missing 3B. RULING: Illegal appeal, as dead ball appeal must come from an infielder including the pitcher or catcher. (1-INFIELDER) Imagine the shock of someone like me, who has for his entire life operated under the illusion that F6 is an infielder. Glad I learned how to call this play before it ever happened to me.

Uh-oh! Does this now mean that we only have 5 positions that are considered infield, with F6 now being including in the OF? Is this only when F6 is playing deep, or perhaps behind second on a shift? This throws a whole new slant on the concept of infield fly as well, doesn't it? Oh....the humanity!
Perhaps ASA needs to invest a small chunk of change into getting an editor for their publications! Scott |
