bunt question

Softball umpire intruding with a question or two raised by my son, a coach.

Is there any rule at any level which does not allow a batter to "square up" for a bunt and then swing away?
If I'm not specific enough, please say so.

A lot of local leagues add this, which just teaches fielders it's A-OK to charge all the way to the plate when a batter squares.

I believe there is a national org that's outlawed it, but I don't umpire for it.

It's not Little League. When all-stars come to districts, we have to remind coaches they aren't playing with their local rules.

Little League has voted down a slash bunt prohibition at at least one Congress.

Hopefully that will continue to be the case.
