Forearm Protection

I have taken two direct shots to my left forearm, in the exact same spot, two different games. Any suggestions for a pad or sleeve for protection. I have thought about getting a football forearm pad. Thanks!

I suspect that many will frown upon this if you're using a pad as part of your everyday game equipment. In my opinion it looks amateurish, although I can see using it if you're protecting an existing injury.

Soccer shin guard. Wear it under your (long-sleeve) shirt or jacket.

Made for the job

A D3 coach in MD told me he helped design the guards in the link. I've never used them.

Right now I am not concerned about how it looks. I have even considered going back to the ole balloon. It does provide a lot more protection. It is just one of those weird things, getting hit twice in the same spot, but I went a year without getting any hits to the arms. I should get in the habit of getting my arms behind my back, but that gets uncomfortable. I may try one of those forearm protectors or a soccer shin guard under a shirt for a short while, until I heal up. Thanks!

Jpaco54,

No, you really shouldn't.

These are the best

But you really should wear a windbreaker or a long-sleeve with this kind of thing:

McDavid HexPad ForeArm Shivers-Black 651 | GoBros.com

They are for football and they are excellent, and very lightweight, and unlike the soccer shins, they are designed for your forearms. I had your problem, and I wore one of these on one arm under a long-sleeve black shirt, and you couldn't tell a thing. I got nicked, not really drilled, on the same bruise, and I didn't feel it. These things are great.

And if you go to that site right now, they have a lot of deals on compression wear and injury prevention stuff.

Youth soccer shin guards fit perfect. I had your same issue a couple of years ago, so I went searching. I never bought anything, but those shinnies for the kids were a perfect fit to my forearm. Cover 'em with some sweat bands (or long sleave shirt) - and you're in bi'ness.

Never wear wristbands......if you wear protection...wear it under your jacket or long sleeved shirt as per Bob Jenkins post...........

Players wear wristbands...umpires do not.....Umpires should not wear wristbands unless you are on the MLB staff and are wearing the Fathers day or cancer awareness bands......

I meant use the wrist bands to cover the shin guard. I did not mean to use the wrist bands as an accessory.

Applying the fact that injuries don't always occur during jacket or long sleeve weather and the shiny shinnies don't need to be exposed.

Some long-sleeve shirts have the fabric that wicks, so you can even wear it in the heat and not be too bad off. If I am injured in the forearm and wear a guard (rare), I wear a long-sleeve, irrespective of the heat. I even have a cream long-sleeve.

Smile Soccer Shin

Tried on my sons old soccer shin guard and it fits pretty good! Now all I need is two or one large navy sweat band to secure it and were ready to go.

Bob,

This is what I do in cool weather. Any suggestions for warm weather?

while you are recovering, it would be no problem to wear a soccer shin guard or football arm pad UNDER a long sleeve shirt......I dont think anyone would have a problem with that.....

After you heal, you might want to revisit your arm position relative to your stance....what ever you do ...do not adopt the "ice skater" arms behind the back stance....that will pretty much get panned...

As for the balloon.........not sure what level of baseball you do, but using a balloon pretty much restricts you to the summer kiddie leagues.....
