Charge the time-out?

Last night, the home coach requested a time-out, which the R2 granted. A brief conversation ensued and then the coach came across the court to address the fans. Apparently, someone had been shining a laser pointer at her bench.

She went immediately back to the bench and sent her players back on the court. We didn't charge her with the time-out, as it seemed like she didn't really want a time-out; she just needed somebody (and she was the only one who could do it) to address the safety issue of the laser pointer.

If she'd simply said to the R2, "Somebody is shining a laser pointer at my bench", we would have stopped the match and addressed it without the time-out. So it seemed fair not to charge her for it. The visiting coach had no problem at all with our decision. (Not that that makes us right, necessarily.)

Did we do the right thing in this case?
