Rude Jack A$$ Fans
Had a first tonight. Two very talented 7/8 teams. Both could go head to head with a lot of HS teams. In the 2nd game of 8th grade match V fans must be starting to get rude with home girls. I had told a couple of home 7/8 boys to knock it off or get out. They shut up. As for the parents, I frankly have done so much HS basketball that I tune stuff out and rarely hear anything. Must have also been some serious whining by V fans over wanted illegal hits (They weren't) and an in the net call (she was.) Unbeknownst to me, home coach (a class act) walks over to the net, stands right beside me and addresses the fans. Tells the entire V side that their behavior was absolutely unacceptable and turns to the V coach and says, "Coach, do something." She in turn (also a class act) reams the fans and tells them it's "about the girls" and to get their act together. Before the 3rd game of the match, home coach asks if I know who school rep is for the night. I told her if she had any more trouble with the fans getting on her or her girls to let me know and I would immediately have them removed. I've never seen this at a MS VB game. I know in HS soccer and B'ball this school is always known for outlandish bad behavior, but I've never seen anything like this in MS VB! Have you?

Rev,
Addressing fans or removing fans really is best left to home management. In the absence of home management, the home coach shall serve as home manegement. I had an interesting match last night where the home fans were less than stellar; a bang -bang play at the net where a player blocks a ball then passes it up. Of course, the less intelligent faction in the crowd starts SCREAMING for two hits, which, of course, it wasn't, and this one kid comes off the bleachers (raised bleachers/balcony seating area, so no access to the playing area) and starts yelling in an angry voice, "THAT'S TWO, THAT'S TWO." We have a dead ball, and while the players are retrieving the ball, I just turn toward the kid and make eye contact, giving him an opportunity to say his say with me actually knowing who was yelling. Needless to say, he wasn't nearly as brave when confronted with the opportunity to say something to my face. He slinked back to his seat, and the situation was diffused without me having to utter a single syllable.
