Pro/international mechanics.

What's the odds that the mechanics you see in international play or pro play, like LOVB, makes it way down to lower levels? R2 doesn't really mirror anything there that I see other than indicating the point side and they don't do that much if at all unless R2 initiated the call.

I can see it coming to college. Probably not a good idea for NFHS.

I hope it doesn't filter down. I like the mirroring of the R1's signals. I think there are times it can help the scorer, as well.

It does kinda make it look like the R2 is just there to be there. At the high school level and down, because most of us are either in training or training others, its definitely a bad idea to me to not have the r2 mirror. Course they also have the r1 platform on the bench side of the court instead of opposite

I did realize something the other day watching an international match that explained some still pictures that pop up of LJs in weird spots on facebook. Everyone looked like the LJ was making calls on the side line line while being 4-6 feet off to the side of the line. Apparently over there, seemed to be japan, they use 4 LJs which each being responsible for a singular line, the LJ whose responsible for the end line is 4-6 feet off the sideline.

I can kinda sympathize when not mirroring when working with someone who seems to only know the in/out signal and when a player literally catches and is just holding the ball or 2/4 hit faults they signal "IN", I really dont want to mirror that...but I do.

Having 4-5 different sets of rules and official's mechanics for the same sport is bonkers. IMO it is like that because of people needing to feel important on committees, governing boards etc. If it's up to me - there will only be a single set of rules and mechanics - the "international" one.
