High School jersey numbers
NFHS 4-2-4f says that a player's number can be no more than 5 inches below the shoulder seam; OR centered no more than 5 inches below the bottom edge of the neckline. (And there's no clarifying case play.)
So it sounds like the number doesn't have to be centered on the front of the jersey. Am I right about that? The way the rule is written, it sounds like you have one option OR a centered option. Am I reading too much into it? So. . . a number that is off-center and placed near the shoulder would be considered legal? Last edited by Scrapper1; Fri Apr 04, 2025 at 08:17am. Correct. I seem to recall that this area is one of the changes for next year, but I’m too lazy to look it up.
