Wrong player on court
I'm looking for the FED ruling here, but will accept NCAA or USAV as well.
NFHS 8-2 PENALTIES tells us (1) For an illegal serve, a service fault, or the serving team being out of position when there is an illegal serve, loss of rally/point is awarded to the receiving team. NFHS 6-4 PENALTIES 2(a) tells us that When an improper server is discovered prior to the contact of the first serve by the opposing team, all points earned by the improper server shall be cancelled. Case play 8.2.5 SITUATION A tells us that any points scored by an incorrect server or servers are cancelled, if discovered before the opposing team legally serves. But there is no rule or case (that I can find) stating that all points by the serving team are cancelled if it's discovered that they are out of position -- specifically because of having an incorrect player (non-server) on the court. I would guess that because the PENALTY section lists incorrect server and being out of position in the same article, the penalty would be assessed in the same way. But I can't find anything that states exactly what I'm looking for. So, if the serving team has an incorrect player on the court, and they score 3 points during that term of service, and the mistake is discovered, are all 3 points removed from that team's score ? And if so, is there a rule or case play that states this? Thanks. Last edited by Scrapper1; Wed Sep 11, 2024 at 12:16pm. |
