NCAAM v. NCAAW - Scorekeeping

From a scorekeeping perspective, any differences in moving from NCAAW to NCAAM? Same scoresheet? Same number of subs? Same delays, yellow card recording?

NCAAM uses USAV rules with some modifications, and ideally, should be using the USAV scoresheet for Division 3. Similar sanction section, 12 subs. However, not all schools use the USAV sheet for men's matches. I would make sure you're adept on both sheets.

If you're scoring D1 men, they use primarily FIVB rules with some modifications, so you would likely have to use either the electronic scoring system or the FIVB scoresheet, which are different animals. D1 use 6 subs with one entry (initial starters are not considered as having an entry), and once the starter has re-entered the set after being subbed out, that position is closed for subs the remainder of the set. If you want to score D1 matches, I'd highly recommend you familiarize yourself with the different rules nuances, as they can be tricky. Or you can PM me.

This youtube video is helpful at getting familiar with the USAV scoresheet.

4/21 by chance? If it's the tourney at COD, they'll be basically using D3 protocols, from what I understand (if that helps).

Thank you both for your help with this. Finished the NJCAAA Invitational (essentially, the national championship for an emerging sport) yesterday. Nine matches over two days on my court (plus seven on another court).

And, Felix showed up yesterday to officiate the bracket portion of the event, pus work as LJ for the championship game.

Very cool! Sounds like a good experience. Did you end up using the USAV scoresheet? Which method do you like better?

Yes, USAV. Teams only were allowed 6 subs, and only one (plus a re-entry sub) per position, so there weren't many subs to track--no team used more than four.

I think I prefer the NCAAW style, but that just might be because I am more used to it.

As long as you can count to 25 and concentrate for 20 minutes without looking at your phone, you can make either work.
