NCAA Line Judges

In reviewing Line Judge responsibilities, I notice that Line Judges are not directed to alert the first referee when a ball contacts the ceiling and then crosses the net to the opponent's side; or when the ball contacts the ceiling over the opponent's side of the court.

Aren't we supposed to do this?

It's not a default responsibility, but I'll instruct my line judges that I missed it and am looking for help, please give me help.

But that's primarily a decision made by the referees.

Since it is not in the responsibilities, I generally won't do it (signal) for a college match. When working as a LJ or as an offical for a HS match, I will tell my LJ's to let me know if they see it hit the ceiling. This tends to be more important in gyms with multiple open rafters throughout the gym where a ball might hit but be out of sight of the R1, or it may go through without touching anything.

For a college match I will however watch the ball and provide help if I am asked by the R1.
