Player protests during anthem

I posted this in the basketball forum, but I'm interested in the insights here as well.

With all of the attention on player protests during the national anthem recently, have you ever had to deal with this at a game? What would you do, if anything, if a player (or team) took a knee during the anthem?

This happened in my area last season and the school stopped playing the anthem before games.

I've had officials tell me that if a team took a knee, they would refuse to officiate the game and leave the venue.

So, has this happened in one of your games? What would/did you do in such a situation?

None of my business. An official's personal beliefs have no place in the gym. You are there to enforce the rules. At absolute worst, this is a site management issue. If I were an AD or assigner and an official left a site over this, I would pull any contracts or assignments they had with me. Just ref the match and keep out of things that don't concern you.

1. Officiate the match as I would any other.
2. Drive home.
3. Lower my personal opinion of the person(s) who took a knee.

Had it happen in a college match last year. Glad I live in a country where she has the right to do that.

Not sure what, as an official, we would be expected to do, other than make sure there's no problem with the fans, and get host management involved if there were.
