Rules
I have two questions. NFHS girls volleyball rules.
1. Are there any rules about headbands. Do all teams members have to wear same color? 2. Does a wide strap the holds the antenna in place on the net go to the inside or outside of the antenna. |

I'll address point #2 only since I don't have my rule book handy.
If the antenna set up includes a tape strip, it should line up with the sideline itself. Then, the antenna will line up with the outside edge of the sideline. Interesting that this comes up today. At a webinar meeting last night of my HS association in rules poll question, 60+ per cent got this wrong.

For question number 1. Yes there are a lot of rules associated with hair control devises...
ribbons can be any color and may be up to 2 inches wide. They do not have to match other players. bobby pins and flat barrettes are allowed as long as they are less than 2 inches in length. other hard items like a headband are not allowed. If they are soft (elastic based), then they are allowed within the 2 inch wide rule. |

Basketball?
John is correct about the colors of headbands not needing to be the same. Many officials who work other sports get this rule wrong. In other sports like basketball, players must all wear the same color of headband (if they wear one at all). That is to help the officials identify players from a particular team. There is no need for that rule in volleyball since players from the two teams don't intermingle during play. One team stays on one side, the other on the other side.
