Somewhat related to the topic at hand.....

Who will you talk to about a call...head coach only, assistant coach, pitching coach, etc?

I will talk to what ever coach has a question, as long as they conduct themselves in a respectful manner. I know several umpires who insist we only talk to the head coach, but I have yet to ever see it in the rules or in any official umpire training that says such. I have never understood why an umpire would insist on only speaking with the head coach if they were at 3rd base and there was a question on a call at 1st by the 1st base coach. The head coach may not have even seen what the 1st base coach saw and is questioning.

Stealing your "I think it depends on the situation", it does.

The only times I insist on the head coach are the plate meeting, lineup issues, or the assistant is obnoxious.
Often, the assistant is more knowledgeable, or closer to the play.
Pitching coach if applicable, same caveat.

I'll answer a question from AC, PC, etc - if I don't have to stop play to do it and he/she isn't disrupting the game to ask (and they ask nicely). If it's something that they want to yell about or something that requires a stoppage of play to discuss, it needs to be coming from the HC.

I will talk to ANY team member (no more than one at a time) who is involved with the play.

IMO, it is not only ludicrous to declare to whom you will talk, but inappropriate to dismiss other individuals just because s/he is not THE head coach/manager.

I used to cringe when I worked with a partner who would routinely include "I will only talk to the head coach if there are any questions or problems with any play or call".

1) I agree
2) the last point, even if it were appropriate, not said at a plate meeting.
3) Earned good points from a team explaining OBS to 2 players.

BTW, several other things are not needed at a plate meeting.
