Got laid out tonight.
Bottom of the 5th, home team winning 9-0, runners on 1 & 2. Batter squares to bunt, both runners off on the pitch. Batter pulls bat back on slightly high inside pitch and for whatever reason catcher never puts glove on the ball. Ball caught me square on the chin and drove my jaw back into my right ear. Massive ear ache, bloody nose, trainer trying to call ambulance as Im telling him to just give me a minute. But hey, game ending run somehow crossed the plate in the middle of all of this.

I have a throat protector it just caught me square on the chin. My partner said it sounded like a canon shot when it hit. I've been hit in the mask pretty hard before but never like this. It must have caught me dead square because it didn't really knock the mask around like it normally does.

Sorry you got hit. Chin better than neck, but both suck.
Having trouble envisioning how it hit your chin though. At least on my mask, there's no possibility of hitting there.

Sorry, the ball didnt hit me directly it hit my mask right on the chin. It was hard enough my initial thought was maybe I did get hit directly, but there is no way. Like I said, Ive been hit pretty hard in the mask before, but nothing even close to this.

Still worth checking for concussion.

Its just loose enough it will drop away from my chin if I look down. I found the impact mark on my mask. It has a short built in throat protector that juts out a little at about a 45 degree angle to the mask face. The ball hit right in the center of this angle just to the right of dead center. So the mask actually caught the ball and transferred all the force to me.
