Michigan-ULL Game 2

I watched part of this game today. Saw something that doesn't happen often. Slap hitter hits the ball straight down off the plate. It bounces forward and as she is running out of the box, she is hit by the ball. Umpire calls her out for it hitting her out of the box. It was a good call. The odd thing was this was the second time this game that the same thing had happened with the same batter. I have seen this occasionally, but to have it happen to the same batter twice in the same game is odd.

I just saw one called in the UAB v. Florida game. Unfortunately, both of the batter's feet were in contact with the ground in the batter's box when the ball contacted her. She was called out. Then again, I had the luxury of 1/10th second slow motion replay.

I actually could not see if she had stepped out of the box, but good call.

With tongues in cheek, both MTD, Jr., and I believe that slap hitters should be drowned at birth, . It would make our lives, when behind the Plate, much easier.

Doesn't benefit doubt go to the batter (no guessing outs)?

One would think. Part of the problem could be not recognizing ball on body contact immediately. If you see it a split second later and then look at her feet, you've got problems. I still say is that the key is to look at the feet quickly, because that will tell you what you've got.
