Start early enough, enjoy doing it, and it's easily done. I started in 1972, took 1 year off (1985), so just finished my 40th. Just turned 60, still working at a pretty high level, so I plan at least 10 more years.

I am fairly certain Mike (IrishMafia) has a few years on me, so he should be even closer to 50 years.

I agree. I started baseball at 14 and I'm 58 now. I've met Fats and know some folks from his area who surely know him pretty well.

I wish I would have started earlier.

A lot can happen over 50 yrs. Not sure how "easy" it is.....or you might hear about it more often.

Good for you and I wish you continued luck and success on your journey!

I'm 73 and have been doing sport's since 1957 when I umpired college intramural softball games. Did Babe Ruth baseball the next summer and eventually high school and college baseball. Also got into softball, ASA, high school and college and football, high school and college which I did for 40 seasons. Only sport I still work here is girls high school softball. The article is right on about the fun factor. Along with the strong support we get from FHSAA, it makes the games enjoyable. I hope to do a few more seasons.
