I will be taking over as assigning secretary nexty year for my organization. I am constantly being told "we need to get more money for these games!" I believe that umpiring fees are market driven. In other words, the area and what the teams/leagues are willing to pay as well as the competiitions fees will determine the fee. We have umpires who state fees in other areas. I fall back on my belief that the market drives fees, not what we truly want. I would be interested if anyone is willing to share with me, and obviously everyone else, the fees you are paid. Please include:
1 your area, 2 the fee you are paid, 3 single game, double header, or more, 4 the age group, 5 the number of innings played, 6 any rules local/league rules that allow the game to be better for umps and players alike (ex. run rules per inning, no fouls after 2 strikes, etc...) 7 any info you feel is pertinent. I realize I am asking alot. If you don't feel comfortable releasing this info fine, but please do not lecture me on the profesionalism of this question. As a profesional umpire, which is what we are, fees are a part of our profession. Thank You Paul

SP 1 ump 21 - 23 2 umps 16 - 17 1 ump tourn 26 2 ump tourn 20 1 pitch tourn 22 FP 1 ump 32 - 35 2 ump 26 - 28 HS V 58 sub-V 41 Area - mid-Atlantic There was survey a few months ago, either here or on the NFHS board.

Oh yeah in HS ball [just to be complete!]
Varsity $72 JV $56 what NY calls 'modified' [i.e. 7-8th grade] $49 Just curious here...who handles the school assigning for everyone here? Ours is done by a body that is first and foremost handles the 'technical' training of our area youth,by providing training in the trades..each school district pools money and busses the kids to one central site....It also coordinates all the athletics in the area..they assign AND pay us..instead of waiting for each individual school to send checks....very easy to deal with...

Regular Season League Games 10s-18s Plate - 20 Bases - 15 10s Tourny Plate and Bases - 18 Thats all that I know of, other bigger tournys probably pay more.

Here, the pay scale depends.
Pre-certified : maxed at $30 a game, depending on longevity Certified: maxed at $40 a game, depending on longevity State Licensed: maxed at $50 a game, depending on longevity The assignor (league UIC) gets a lump-sum payment of $2,000 in addition to whatever games he/she umpires. (My job next year.) The kids range from as young as 9-10 years to as old as 13-14. Varsity/jv rates I don't know since I haven't started umpiring those yet, guess we'll see.
