Throwing the Bat

I'm not an umpire. I didn't see the game. I have no agenda.

I read that in a tournament game at the high school level a girl hit a single but was declared out and ejected for throwing the bat. Story goes that she was warned previously for throwing her bat.

I always wondered if that was a real rule or one of those myths.

So I ask...

Is there a rule that calls for both an out and an ejection?

If not is there anything an umpire can do with a player who throws a bat?

Thanks

First instance is a team warning, subsequent infractions are restriction to bench. The batter is only out if the bat interferes with a play being made on the ball.

For the out part of it, 7-4 The batter is out. Art 14 The batter throws her bat and interfers with a defensive player attempting a play. Note: If the bat breaks and a portion is hit by the ball or hits a runner or fielder, no infraction has occured.

On the team warning part, have to find that. Remembering it as a test question a couple of years ago.

In case it wasn't obvious, they are citing NFHS rules.
