This forum has room for a little humor and ribbing of newbies along with vets, and it wasn't in a separate post, the rest was a contribution.

it was inserted with the proper amount of humor and I found it slightly amusing.
FWIW: I did not feel the "snideness".
And remember it IS a valid statement - just many people who are baseball centric don't realize that. Perhaps the light hearted comment increased the poster's awareness...

Apparently, neither do some softball-centric people, either. We had the head coach for a successful college program in our area speak to the local high school umpire group last week. Every reference she made to "the area from which the softball pitcher pitches", she called it "the mound".

And each time I winced...and thought of Irish Mike...
