Substitute not reporting
I am a baseball umpire, new to softball watching my granddaughter play. Fed rules. She came in to pinch hit but didn't report the substitution. The other team didn't catch it because she was wearing a sweatshirt over her jersey since it was cold. In baseball it is just a nonreported substitute, no penalty. Is it the same in softball?

NFHS Rule 3-6-7 covers an unreported substitute and states that a warning shall be given to the team and a subsequent violation will result in the head coach being restricted to the dugout/bench. High school wants the kids to play ball.

In NFHS if found the unreported sub (if a legal sub) is entered and the offending coach gets a warning. If repeated the coach is restricted to the dugout.
