Foamers! From an earlier thread!

I was sure that Deputy UIC or Mike from Katy would remember "Foamers" at the Astrodome........

Back in the day at the dome......if an Astro player hit a homerun during an "Odd" minute......free beer for the rest of the night (through the 7th inning).

There was a light next to the scoreboard on each foul line that lit up orange during every odd minute so you knew when a "Foamer" was possible.

Granted....the dome was huge....and HRs were unlikely at most times.....but if you were ever at the dome when it happened, it was a site to behold.....

This was back in the mid/late 70's. I think I was there twice when it happened.

Fun days.

Joel

I've been to the Astrodome (1970), but don't remember that being available. It was probably sponsored by the FOP when they needed to hit their numbers toward the end of the month

Sounds like that could be as much fun as ten cent beer night in Cleveland!

I don't think it existed that early.....more like 75-78/79.

One of my roommates at Naval AOCS was at that game. He said (to quote a certain Australian sportscaster from the Sidney Olympiad): "It was absolute carnage."
