Smile Back on the dirt!

Assigner got a call at 3:45. Coach forgot to schedule umpires for a 4:00 start. Busy Tuesday with our HS season in full swing. Bottom line, only one umpire available, so I went back on the field for the first time since my leg amputation!

I did the bases and we got the game going 30 minutes late. I can't move like I should, but no complaints from anyone. I swear they think I just have a limp. Pretty sure they didn't realize that I'm titanium from above the knee down.

I had so much fun that I asked him to give me some freshman games later in the season.

This is so awesome on so many levels, I don't even know where to begin!

VERY glad to hear it, man!

I haven't decided if I should call it from the dugout or the outfield. Apparently, both have really great views!

Screw green, it ain't easy being blue!

I won't be coming here that much anymore. I might check in now and again.

Great for you! Awesome that you're back in the game. There is a guy in our association who umpires and lost his leg in a car accident. I didn't realize it until one day we were changing and he only put one shin guard on. I asked him why and he showed me his other leg. I told him that I thought he'd hurt his leg or something and didn't realize it was missing!

I hope you have fun out there. Don't let you lack of a leg keep you from doing the things you enjoy!

Congratulations, Larry. Good for you for getting out there and doing what you love.

Good luck.

We'll be there ... maybe around Labor Day for the exposure tournament. I'll see how the rest of my season goes and maybe I can get out there with you guys just for fun.

Sweet...............my youngest graduated this past year and I was excited to get back to HS ball......but I had a hip injury that has been holding that back......

I have been doing some games and never know when the hip will just stop working.

Not had it happen in a game yet..........and hope it won't...........

Glad you are back on the grass..

Joel
