Well...if you want to be that nitpicky about it, obstruction is only one word. That goes for interference as well. However, you said nothing about OBS and INT.

I do have a short section on softball vocabulary:
Pitcher's Plate not Rubber
Circle not Mound
Illegal Pitch not Balk
etc.

"IF" is a common abbreviation for Infield, just like "OF" is Outfield.

But let me ask you a question: What makes you think IFF is InField Fly?

If that is the premise, those are the first 3 letters of the words, an abbreviation not an acronym. The analogy would then be INFFLY.

Although I guess Tony's comment ""IF" is a common abbreviation for Infield, just like "OF" is Outfield. " might apply.
