I tried the WalMart Dr. Scholl's machine, and bought the cheap ($50) orthotic it prescribed. I've never had the prescription type, but I have received a lot more relief from them than the general shoe inserts that claim to help.

I have to take a look at the Dr. Scholl's.
I bought a pair of New Balance Cross trainer with the proper width (anyone want to buy a pair of 1 yr old New Balance 11 EE??) and then went to a medical supply store where I bought a fitted pair of orthotics for about $50.00 (probably the same type of thing as the Dr. Scholls).

I was on the field for 3 hrs last week / no problem.
I also used them on a 4 day vacation to Pittsburgh and have a 3 game series scheduled Saturday.
They seem to have done the trick.

I picked up a pair of cluncky full support shoes (also with an orthotic arch support) for everyday, so the New Balance can take their place as my full time base shoes.

Now I have to see if I need to replace my plate shoes with a wider version and support them.
I'll find out this weekend.

You know, I am not sure these jokes even deserve a rimshot.
