Gotta Love the Honesty...
Working a tournament this weekend and I am on the bases for a U12 game. R1 on 1st and BR hits a grounder to F4 who fields the ball, takes a step forward to tag R1 and misses by 6-8", then throws to 1st and gets the out there. Coach comes, "hurriedly" out of the dugout and we go through the usual "She tagged her- No coach, she missed her" spiel.
He then turns to his player and asks, "Did you make that tag?" She reply's, "No coach, I missed her." I don't know which he was more pissed at. a) the player for missing the tag. b.) her admitting it. c.) that he asked (and she answered) loud enough for everyone to hear it. or c.) all of the above.

Just finished a 12B National. After a severe tirade by a coach in the dugout, I overheard the little F4 state to F1, "We would play a lot better if we could coach ourselves!"
Sometimes those young'uns can be quite smart. |

This sounds like the little older girl my 8-year old boy thinks is cute!

Another I remember awhile back was the one who came to the plate to bat and muttered under her breath "I hate daddy's as coaches!" |

Batter: "Daddy, I'm looking as hard as I can!"

Two games later in the day, plate meeting, she asked me again if ok. I thought that very observant, good memory and thoughtful. Also, excellent pitcher and batter. BTW, 10 & U.

I had a baseball game years ago, 10U i think. Bases Loaded, pitcher is all over the place and goes 3-0 on the batter. The next pitch is at least a foot behind the batter and he takes a big hack. The coaches/fans all started saying "Why did you swing at that, that was ball 4" etc. at the kid. Kid steps out and yells down to third, loud enough for everyone to hear "My mom only gives me money for hits, she doesn't pay me for walks." I almost fell out on the spot. I'm sure the mom was plenty embarrassed.
