Softball Field Mechanics

I am just looking for a quality website that will outline positioning and mechanics in the field for softball umps. I have been doing baseball for a long time and have scheduled for high school softball this summer. Anything would help. Thank you.

Are you going to be calling slow pitch, fast pitch or modified? 3-umpire mechanics or 2?

I haven't decided if I should call it from the dugout or the outfield. Apparently, both have really great views!

Screw green, it ain't easy being blue!

I won't be coming here that much anymore. I might check in now and again.

Isn't high school ball over in a week or two, if not already? You mean 14U-18U rec league? Tournaments? Will it be ASA, Fed or PONY? All three have their own mechanics.

As umpires, we are expected to be perfect our first game and get better every time out thereafter.

You would think that would interfere with the corn harvest

No, them football and volleyball players handle the harvest well during the fall. Summer finds them to doing the detassling and rouging during the mornings, if they're still awake after a night game.

Because we don't like playing baseball in the snow.

And we do love playing slow-pitch softball in the snow in Iowa!
