I'd say about 98% of the missed bases I see during the course of the season are never appealed. Even the dead obvious ones (like a male runner running almost directly to 2B in a coed game when he gets walked).

Not just softball.
My only two high school softball games this Spring were rained out but I have had 3 missed HP's and MTD, Jr. has had 2 missed HP's in high school baseball this Spring and every time the catcher was clueless to the fact.

And in either game, that is the result of poor coaching.

Exactly..
Not that I really give a sh1t as an umpire, but as a fan, I always like it when I see a catcher (or F3 for that matter) glancing back to see the touch when a runner is scoring or passing a base on a no brainer. |
