Since this is an umpire board, and we really don't care about such things, allow me to suggest that you go to a player oriented site such as www.eteamz.com.

As an umpire I'm hoping you will come to the plate with a short bat that's too heavey for you to get around on the pitch. As Skahtboi says in an earlier post, eteamz may be the forum to consult.

Why mess around, Dag? Do what some of the guys I played with 30 years ago have done: pay a machine shop to load and repaint their legal bat. This way, without steroids or even workouts, you can go from hitting the ball short of the warning track at age 30 to hitting the ball over the infield on the next field at age 60. It's gotta feel good for a guy who hit zero balls over the fence between age 25 and age 35 to hit 5 in one game for his grandchildren to see.

Such bats abound around here, and to my knowledge not a single one has ever been taken out of a game or even been inspected by the umpire.
