Banned Bats - ASA

Someone with Urgency please help me.
We (Great Britain) has not had a Banned bat List for this Year/Season

Can someone from over the pond let me know if the:
Easton Synergy +, model SCN12BH

Is Legal?

Thanks Chaps

As per ASA's website here, that bat is not legal.

The bat itself was never approved. It used to appear on the non-approved list when ASA published a list of ALL bats that were not approved. However, due to the recent rule changes, this bat no longer needs to appear on the list, as it was never approved to begin with.

It does not appear on the "approved bat list," either.

Good luck, chap!

Screw green, it ain't easy being blue!

I won't be coming here that much anymore. I might check in now and again.

Thought it was not ASA but thanks for the confirmation, guess she just lost £80.00!! Shame

Sorry to not reply, but I just felt no sense of urgency whatsoever!

I may be mistaken, but ISF did, prior to October 30 (I think) allow bats that were not allowed by ASA. I noticed a few ASA non-approved bats in the Olympics, which set off HUGE red flags (I'm an umpire, I notice these things, can't help it).

I think after the Olympics, ISF decided to use the ASA list, bringing us to this discussion here.

For the record, I only call ASA, and have zero experience with ISF.

ISF only have a list for Approved Bats.
In Great Britain and in ESF (European Tournaments) we always use the ASA banned Bat List to check our Bats together with the ISF Approved Listing.
Which is one of the same except you have more bats which is why yours overrules Ours!
To be very honest I pay very little, to no attention, to the ISF List and concentrate on ASA.

Anyhow huge help, thank you, and last question to which I shall not reply! (Unless Forced)
When does the ASA List get updated?

It gets updated as soon as an already-approved bat fails the test. Currently, the bat list has not been updated since March 31, 2008 (which is why you haven't been notified by my script).

I find it ironic that the ASA (USA Softball) is the U.S. Olympic Committee's National Governing Body for softball and represents the USA to the ISF, and yet ISF has approved bats that the ASA has banned.

Huh? ISF is an INTERNATIONAL Softball Federation, not the USOC's or ASA's international subdivision.
