Sorry to be so slow in getting this info passed along:
The USSSA Executive Committee Announces The Following: The USSSA performs random testing of approved bats for compliance with the USSSA Standard. Any bat that is tested and does not meet the USSSA Standard is immediately banned from use pending further testing. Effective immediately (August 1, 2002) and until further notice the USSSA has banned the use of the following bats in all USSSA Sanctioned events: Miken Velocit-E Ultra (Balanced) Miken Velocit-E Ultra (Maxload) Recent testing of these bats has shown that they no longer meet the USSSA Standard. USSSA has adopted an on going program to insure that all previously certified bats continue to meet the bat performance standards and tolorances setforth by the USSSA. Scott |

Re: USSSA Bats
Scott,
Thanks for the information. I have a USSSA tournament the weekend of the 14/15. Had really not checked on the bats in this association. glen

USSSA bats
The only bats banned are original Ultras (gray bat). Technically they're Velocite-E Ultras, but everyone refers to them as Ultras.
The Ultra II (black) is legal, as is the Velocite-E (black with many colors--NASCAR-like) and Velocite-E Maxload (same color scheme). |
