Unfortunately, it's not limited to officiating. The business world is horrible for buzz words and catch phrases:

"Synergy"

"Metrics"

"Proactivity"

I'd keep going but I'm getting nauseous.
OK, but at the end of the day, what terminology are we to use going forward?
