Umpire Interferance?

What do you have when the umpire makes contact with the catcher on a attempted pick off throw by the catcher. NFHS an NCAA?

1) Umpire saying to himself "oh ......" Hope no evaluator saw that screw up.

2) If the pick off is successful, an out. If not, nothing. It is as if the catcher made contact with the dirt on the ground, only this time it might have been vertical just a tad bit.

Speaking NFHS.

If it was a passed ball or wild pitch, it is nothing.

If it is not a passed ball/wild pitch, it is a delayed dead ball. If the runner is out, the ball remains live and the out and the remainder of the play stand. If the runner is not out, the ball is dead, and the runner is returned. Rule 8-5-6
