Interferance?

Working as PU for Senior LL. Runner on 1st & 3rd. Batter in RH box takes pitch, catcher makes snap throw towards 3rd base, but hits batter in side, ball bounces out to foul side near the plate. No attempts by either runner to advance.
Was I correct in not awarding the interferance? Batter did not make an effort to hinder and was in normal position after no swing, also the catcher did not make an effort at throwing around the batter. Thanks for the feedback.

Cool

TwoDot,

As described, sounds good to me. In this situation, the batter is "entitled" to his position in the box & absent any "unusual movement", is not liable to a call of BI. The catcher needs to throw around him.

Whoa -- this is a recipe for a brawl. The catcher is an idiot and no, there is no interference. I'd give the catcher a warning. One more and he's off to the parking lot.

In 1965, Roseboro threw too close to the batter (Marichal) at the plate and got himself a bat to the forehead.

There is no interference. The batter can not expect to disappeer after a pitch. Catcher has to find a way to throw around him. If he is back far enough he can throw by the batter with no problem, but a lot of catchers crowd the plate.

And why didn't R1 take 2b? !B coach must have been asleep.
