WTH is going on?....did Obama address the coaches privately?

30+ wreck/catholic league games
12 baseball games (all different levels up to and including HS)
in 2009...so far
Not one single warning or ejection. maybe, i've gone soft.

I had my first '09 ejection last night

- HS game, routine ground ball, batter out by 3-4 steps
- as soon as she crosses 1st base she whips off her helmet & windmills it into her dugout (she was the pitcher)
- her coach as I approached her: "is she gone?"
- me: "yes ma'am"
- coach: "fine, I'll get a sub"

And that probably had to be the easiest ejection I've ever heard of. If they would all be like that....*dreaming*

Easiest ejection I ever had didn't require me to say a word. Coach knew he crossed the line when he dropped the "G.D." bomb in the middle of a church league game (Mike, leave it alone).

I simply turned toward his bench, and before I could say a word, the coach said, "I know," and walked away.

My instinct would have been to hopefully find a way to just warn her, unless this is some sort of recurring problem.

Men's FP this weekend... helmet tossing will be a plenty. Of course, when they get thrown at me; they gots to go.

NFHS (since it was a HS game) gives the umpire the option of a warning for the first offense if the equipment throwing is judged to be of a minor nature.

I tossed one of those, too. Except in that case, it was for saying to me, "you're out of your f***ing mind."

And hey, if a coach admits he crossed a line and is willing to walk away peacefully, was the ejection that unreasonable?

if she was 3 feet from her dugout and tossed the helmet in thats different .... here she was still on the foul line, 30 feet from the dugout and didnt care who saw her

I'll support this. Is it me getting older or in the few short years I've been doing this gig the behavior is quickly going downhill.
Last night 14A ball. Pitcher was literally hitting the backstop every 4th pitch, and the coach thought he was gonna turn the game into a whine fest about my strike zone. By the time it was done 10 walked in runs and 1 ejected coach. It was just a downright pathetic display of humanity. I felt embarrassed for him because he apparently had no shame.
