Talking Reminds me of a Joke......

There was an Alabama cotton farmer who had come to West Texas to get some ideas from a well known Texas Farmer on getting more production from his farm.........

Upon arrival.........the Texan asked the Alabama farmer how big his spread was.............

The Alabama farmer replied........."Pretty big........I have 2900 acres".......

The Texan puffed up and asked the Alabaman to step out onto his porch............

He pointed to the North.........as bragged........."I can get into my pick-up.......and drive all day.....and never reach the end of my property........."

He pointed to the South........and repeated his brag.......as well as to the East and West.........

The Alabaman...........replied in his best Southern Drawl........."I fell your pain Bubba.........I used to have a pick-up truck like that"..............

BTW Welcome aboard..........we know how to laugh at ourselves in Texas..................grin

Joel

To glen........are you going to be calling any in Houston/Pasadena this Spring.......?

My oldests team play the Beaumont Blast in a pool game Saturday at 6:00 p.m.

Mike.........

At least I did not reply to him with my favorite Bama quote (by one of my MOST favorite authors)

Ala-damn-bama........

Louis Grizzard (may he rest in peace).......

And if you choose Tx........you get to not only live in the finest damn State in the country..........you get to live in the same place as me, glen, Don, and Ntx (and probably a few others I missed)...........grin

Joel

On a side not.........I have visited just about every State in the Union.......and I LOVE the NE part of the US......as well as the NW......and Midwest........and just about every where else.......

I have yet to find a part of the US that I didn't like........BUT..........When I looked hard enough........I could find it in Tx...........

There was a west Texas mountain lion who was just about starving to death. Another mountain lion, sleek and well fed, comes along and sees the pathetic beast. He says, "How come y'all are all skin 'n' bones? There's mor'n enough Texas cowboys 'round these parts for 25 lions."

The starving lion says, "I don't understand it. I eat 2 cowboys a day."

The sleek lion says, "Next time y'all are fixin' to hunt, I'll go along. Maybe I can see what you're doing wrong."

So, they go out together and perch on some rocks above the trail. Before long, a cowboy rides by on his horse.

The starving lion let out a huge "RRROOOOAAARRRR"...
He jumps down off the rocks, hits the cowboy hard and knocks him off his horse, and eats him.

The sleek lion says, "Well, I see what y'all are doing wrong. Ya gotta remember, these here are Texas cowboys. First your big roar scares the crap out of 'im, and then when you knock 'im off his horse you pound all the wind out of him. After that, there ain't nothing left."

I certainly hope that I make a couple in that area. Hey good luck
with the Blast. Not sure wish team it will be that you will
be facing. They have two 18's....I am sure your team will
be facing same problem that Blast will. Have several girls
still in playoffs. Both their pitchers are. Bobbitt from
Vidor and the Collins gal from Splendora. Surely with your
DD playing AFA we will connect.

Being a former Yankee, now a "naturalized" Texan, I believe most real Texans think of their state as a separate country!

Joel, you are right ... most Texans are the first to make a joke out of the "Texas thing".

I used to live in Texas in the '80's. Houston is hot, humid and flat. Nice folks though, I never could get over the shotguns and confederate flags in the pickups.

Any one know Mike Atwood from Katy? If you do say hi from Rachel ( we used to teach together )

Texas Coyotes

As I understand it....
When trapping coyotes, you can tell a Texas coyote from all the other Coyotes in the U.S.
They're are the ones that have chewed off at least one leg and they're still caught in the trap...
Now I can't personally testify to that, but with all the Texans on this board maybe one of ya can shed some light on this claim.... Well ok maybe it will take two of you....

H*ll by the time we finish our Buds and run the traps
the California Eagles {buzzards} have picked em clean.
What is left we package up and send to California and sell
as road kill.

Wake up, Scott. Not even in one of your dreams.

BTW, I have umpired a NC in Mobile and I must say, I have not been treated better any place else.
