Home plate crashes

I've had two occassion this week with home plate crashes.
In both cases I did not see deliberate contact.

In first case, catcher has ball in front of base path (blocking plate) runner comes into plate in a non sliding defensive manner, lots of contact.

Second case, catcher waiting to receive ball in front of plate. Runner attempts to slide, but feet stick and body moves foward. Lots of contact. Runners on bases all advance.

What do you guys have here an also I'm looking for any rule of thumb advise for crashes at plate.

If you are saying what I think, first case out either on tag or INT, first case ejection if "non sliding defensive manner, lots of contact" means unnecessary force.
Second case, "body moves foward. Lots of contact" could be excess force.
Also could be OBS as yo are implying the ball was not there.
If INT in either case, other runners stay at last base reached before INT.

Rule of thumb is hard, but rules require runner avoidance and lack of excess force.

I guess its the poorly described areas of the rules that confuse me.
Though the runners did not avoid the contact, In either case I dont think the runner where (deliberate) or had the intent of taking the catcher out. I would think the catcher has some responsability for the contact because of her position in front of plate. I wish there was a clear rule about sliding to make the interpatation easier for me. Im just trying to get a clear grasp rules Thanks for help.

I'm with you, but some stupid lawyer has decided to cause 100X more injuries by making the rule muddy. Read between the lines and in your mind consider it a slide rule... but never say that or a bunch of goofs will say "cant have a slide rule or I'll get sued"

If that runner crashers a catcher with the ball, the R better be sliding or they are out and possibly ejected.

As to catcher positioning, F2 has the ball so thats not the issue. If the runner remains upright and crashes into the catcher, the runner is out.

If that runner slides, the runner can destroy the catcher.. and let the cards land where they may (with the exception of some over USC like cleating to the face or something)
