Women's College World Series

Anyone making it to see any of the games this year? I just got tickets to Thursday's games at Chapel Hill. Can't wait to see some great softball (and great softball officiating)!

I am a little confused by this post. The WCWS is held at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City. What you will be going to watch will be the Regional tournament.

You are correct.

I do the same thing when baseball season comes around (I call all of the games that lead up to the World Series by that name, when really they are division championships, etc.)

Maybe one day I'll get it all straight.

You call division championships the World Series!?!?!

Well then, I suppose we owe you a pass for calling a regional the WCWS.

Oh I'll be working the Championship of the Planet this weekend... aka Fri & Sat regionals for NFHS and Sun a championship for a rec league tourney. No big deal though, i got like a billion championship of the planet and Intergalactic championships under my belt already.

I didn't say I was right to do so. Just that I always (mistakenly) do it.

Enjoy those Planetary Championships

Well, I think we've reached the point where I usually ask how many other countries take part in this alleged "world" series.

It IS the 2008 NCAA Championship playoffs for softball.

And then someone (Tom, is that you?) follow up with how this really isn't a "series" at all.

Correct, it is a multi-stage double elimination tournament, mostly, with a 3 game series between the two finalists.

But, as the OP says, "World Series" as become a generic term for "diamond sports ball and bat game championship playoff, tournament, series or whatever format to give someone a trophy or ring at the end."

I got field 2 5 pm /7 pm fri.. Arnaiz. waiting on sat info... if not there I'll be at regional on sat.

Let me know about memorial day (pm is fine).. but dont tick your dude off and start a intergalactic umpire war. I know we are looking for like 96 umpires for 10U-18G.. not sure how many we got so far.
