How busy are you?

The post by NCASAUmp got me thinking... how busy are you?

No meds to take! It probably has to do with the lack of sleep I've had over the past week/weekend. Case in point:

Thursday, Varsity game, home at 11:30pm. 5.5 hrs sleep.
Friday, College DH, then to hotel hospitality room to meet the out-of-towners in for our big spring JO FP tourney (128 teams, 88 umpires, 30 fields) that I'm co-UIC'ing. Up till 12:30am BS'ing and drinking. 4 hrs sleep.
Saturday, travel between 18 of the 22 fields being used, then to hotel hospitality. Reschedule some rainouts for Sunday with Wild Bill, then up till 3am trying to outdrink the Canadians. (They won... oh my God did they win). 3 hrs sleep.
Sunday, finish the tourney, travel to 3 complexes, pay out about $6k to out-of-town umpires, wait for the last game to finish at 9pm. To the Keg to eat a nice dinner provided to the tournament staff by the TD. Home at 11:30pm. 5 hours sleep.
Monday, Work, then 4 SP games. Field lights cause a delay, so I'm not off the fields until 11:30pm. Home at 12:15am. 5 hours sleep.
Tuesday, Work, then 4 SP games. Off the field at 11. 5.5 hours sleep.

Today, drinking coffee and recovering. Got a Varsity HS game this afternoon... which I am completely excited about because I'll be home by 6:30pm, and I'll actually get to sleep for more than 5 hours tonight!

Then looking forward:
Thursday, 3A HS Varsity league playoff game.
Friday, College DH.
Saturday, 2 JO games in the AM, 4A HS Varsity league playoff game, then 2 JO games in the PM.
Sunday, 4 SP games in the AM, then 2 or 3 JO FP games in the PM.
Monday, 4 SP games.
Tuesday, 3A HS District playoff game.
Wednesday, 4 SP games.

Next Thursday I finally have a break... and Friday I have tickets to the Mariners.

Is this obsessive, normal, or under-normal? What do you have going on?

Whoa Sean! Slow down and get some sleep, man! You're young -- but that schedule will get to you eventually.

I have just finished my first month of the season, and have done 8 high school games, 1 rec league game, and 2 travel team games. I have had 5 games cancelled (probably won't be made up since playoffs start soon). I have a doubleheader scheduled for Saturday which will round out my high school season. I'm pretty happy with the amount of games I've done this year since I have seen all of DD's games and managed to start my spring chores while still spending some quality time with the family.

I probably won't be umpiring much in the next couple of weeks since my son is graduating high school and we're having an open house so I have to find time to put up a new fence before the end of the month. If anyone wants to come by for a hog roast (my wife's influence since that's what they do over here) or some brisket (my influence since I love real BBQ) feel free to stop on by. Probably have some cold Beck's, Heineken, and Hoegaarden also!

Sure. I'll come. But it looks like I will have to bring the beer!

No kidding!

I usually work my full-time job, run home, don my uniform, and call 3 SP games in a row. I get home, eat my dinner, polish my shoes, get to bed by 12 or so and sleep for about 6 hours. Get up, repeat.

And that's usually for 5 nights straight.

It's no wonder I listen to loud, obnoxious music before games. I still have to wake up!

I haven't decided if I should call it from the dugout or the outfield. Apparently, both have really great views!

Screw green, it ain't easy being blue!

I won't be coming here that much anymore. I might check in now and again.

Not nearly as busy as that. Looks like officiating (and the fun stuff associated with it) is a full time job for you.

Just got done with the last NFHS game on Monday (JV tournament). Still too inexperienced for the state FP tournament, so I am cleaning my gear and getting in shape for weekend tournaments starting on Memorial Day weekend. Back to the 6 games a day weekend; I'm actually looking forward to it.

Oh, and daughter graduates from high school next week. The last one has flown the coop!!!!!

Funny. I thought of this as right around the normal phase for this time of year. But I guess that from the responses, I am wrong. The problem with this time of year is that it is playoff time in Texas, and that can mean drives of up to 200 miles one way to work a neutral site.

This year I'm only doing NFHS softball (and football in the fall.)

I had a playoff game on Monday night, but there are only a few teams per division left in the playoffs. The state champions will be crown by end of next week. Hopefully I'll get one more game, but there are only a few games in our area.

Football meetings start next Monday.

Tonight, I'm washing the dog. (That's not code for anything involving tequila... it's soap, water and one overly active, year old springer spaniel.)

Wait until your ESS is 6 yo and still overly active. Mine turns 6 this weekend and yet he still acts like he's still a puppy. Nature of the English Springer Spaniel breed. I'm on my 4th and will never own a different breed of dog. IMO, the most gifted athletic dog of the K9 family. I don't know about you and yours but I hunt with mine and you won't find a better dog for upland game (pheasant, grouse, chuckar).

So... um...

Scratch that Thursday break I mentioned. Just got assigned a HS 4A League Playoff game that evening. It's probably the last HS varsity game I'll have this year. I should savor it.
