I talked to the Parks & Rec Director last night and the fielder's coach tonight. We all agreed that it is a distraction for batters. We also agreed that since it has lights it also has plastic or glass and if the lights break that could be dangerous for the fielder and for runners, especially for this age group. I won't be seeing it any more.

I am quite sure blinking lights on a glove would not be something I could handle. If I run across one, its going away.

Yeah, we can't allow any equipment that has plastic in it on the field. You know, like batting helmets, catcher's helmets, bat ends, game-face type fielder's face guards, sunglasses, perscription glasses, ... all that dangerous stuff has to go.

You guys are making WAAAAAY too much of this. No self-respecting kid over 10 would use one of these things.



It comes in blue and pink. The lighting effect is only in the pocket and only when hit by the ball. You know... AFTER the batter has swung! And, it can be turned off.

It is marketed for T-ball players. So some 10 year old thinks it is cute. Big deal.

Yes, it is inaccurate. That is the exact model my 6 yr old wanted. Outside of the web lights up. She thinks it's the greatest glove ever - Lights up; favorite color; left handed.

If you see it on a ball field (I highly doubt it), and if it bothers you, just have the player push the on/off button.

So what I cited IS accurate as compared to what Tom posted, that the "pocket" lights up.

No, its not just you.

Its an ejectable offense. Rule 14.1

Anyone who makes a complete travesty of the sport shall be ejected and their parents shall also be ejected.

EXCEPTION: If the mother of the ejected player is hot and sitting on the bench in such a way as to make between innings more enjoyable; only the father shall be ejected.

I suppose if you REALLY care about what EXACTLY lights up you could go to a store and look at one, or look at the pic I posted and notice the inserts into the pocket that look like this:

Ok, so I went home on my lunch hour to check out the black and blue light-up glove. It has lights on the inside and the outside of the webbing that light up when pressure is applied to the pocket. Also, the little red 'R' logo on the outside lights up as well.
