If there was no play, there was no interference. I agree the OP is not clear as to the sequence, but it does seem that the position of the batter did not prevent a play; the play was prevented by the defense being asleep. They don't get bailed out because the batter was also asleep. IOW, based on what is stated, I agree with the no-call.
