2007 PONY Nationals in Ohio(10u, 12, 18u)

Who's coming?

This is the final year of a 3 year contract to host the event. The past two events have been successes. This is the first year that the tournament is spread of two weeks. The event recently resigned for an additional 3 years.

Anyway, I'm working both weeks this year. Any of you fine umpires coming to the beautiful Mahoning Valley? I believe most of you will be impressed by our facilities.

I am not going, but one of our local guys is - a guy named Steve Dworetsky** - big guy with almost white hair - looks sort of like Captain Kangaroo...but don't tell him I said that!

Actually Steve is a nice guy...good ump...he is secretary/treasurer of our local HS association, and does a hell of a job in the position!

There is a pic of him on our web site

If we get time, I'll show you the sights(or what's left of them) in the Steel Valley.

Sounds like fun!

I'm an Ohio guy, but that weekend I'll be working a men's fastpitch tournament in the Columbus area.

I worked all day Tuesday with Steve. He was on the plate for three with me. We had absolutely nothing in the games we did. He did have an issue in a game where he worked the bases with an ejection, he didn't eject the coach. Most of the coaches I spoke with were impressed with his flipping coin.

Did he tell the story about it all three games?

And just exactly WHAT was she bargaining for in the slot?
At least she had protection!

Congrats to all of you working PONY. I am the proud owner of a Lew Hays Award back when it was a big big plaque and handed out personally by Lew, so PONY will always occupy an extremely great place in my heart and life.
