I just got back from Baton Rouge with the PONY SP Nationals. I gotta tell you, it was a lot of fun. But I have developed a new respect for the folks who live in Louisiana. These people are tougher than you would think. The first day, there were 13 girls who fell out from the heat and none of them were from Louisiana. Even the kids from Houston were having a tough time. I can honestly say that first day is the toughest day I've ever had to call games on. High 90's, over 80% humidity,no wind and no clouds. A lot of the umpires failed to show, so we worked a lot more games than we should have. The most anyone called in 1 day was 11, not me thankfully. Had 3 upsets, where defending National Champions lost to teams no one thought had a chance and 4 great Championship games. The good news was, everyone was so hot, no one wanted to waste the energy to come out and argue a call. It was almost boring. Had a blast.
