Interesting Poll

I thought that a poll like this would be interesting. How many of you do softball only or softball/baseball?

For me, I only do softball. I can't stand the slow play of baseball and the boring games. My ADD (self diagnosed) just won't let me sit out there and do it. That is why I choose softball and I love it. Fast games, great play action, and most of the times the coaches are pretty laid back and easy to work with.

So which do you do?

Aaron

90% softball myself. Fill in for baseball only, although I do bother to go to the FED baseball meetings and take the tests and such.

Shall we make a public poll on that? Or hide the voter's answers?

I haven't decided if I should call it from the dugout or the outfield. Apparently, both have really great views!

Screw green, it ain't easy being blue!

I won't be coming here that much anymore. I might check in now and again.

I'm also usually 90% or more softball with a bit of baseball thrown in. Since the adult leagues here have gone to wood bats, I'm starting to call a few of those games. I may end up with 35-40 baseball games this year - out of about 250.
On the nights I'm not working games, I'm out observing & evaluating the softball umps who want to see about moving up. I'll probably observe at another 50 games or so this year.

When working baseball, what mechanics do you use?

Mike,
When I'm doing baseball, I try to use baseball mechanics. It's a different game and I try to work it so I'm working to that standard.
So I don't have any sympathy for those who work baseball using softball mechanics or those who work softball using baseball mechanics.

Im a softball guy that calls local higher level ball when the opportunities come up.

I dont change my techniques when working little ball because they are instinctive.

Cool

Softball, Baseball [ASA, LL, CCA, MLB]; Basketball [Fed, CCA (men, women)]
I feel it would be less than proper for me to not bring the suggested mechanics to the field or to the floor for such games. Additionally, it makes me think and keeps me a bit more alert.
