Game Day

What's the penalty for a boy playing short stop on a girl's fastpitch softball game during a tournament? The other teams doesn't find out about it until the next day when the tournament is over?

The boy is branded as a transvestite and it goes on his permanent record!

Seriously, this is not an umpire/rule issue.

How did nobody realize this was a boy? Was this a younger age group, where some of the players may still be a little "developmentally" challenged? Anything higher than about 14 though and I'm thinking somebody would have realized. Also I would think that the way in which his uniform was being worn might have given something away. Whether its the presence of a cup or the lack of certain undergarments, somebody had to have noticed this. I'm not saying it necessarily should have been the umpires or coaches, but you would think a player would have figured it out.

I know this isn't really an issue for umpires (unless we catch it in the act), but I'm completely amazed that this could happen.

Do you know how the tournament rules were worded? Did they say, no boys, or girls only? If not, I don't see any problem.

Would you complain if a girl played in a baseball tournament?

Some tourneys I've called have required birth certificates to prove they're in the appropriate age group. I'm surprised this even happened.

Did this boy never go to the bathroom?!

I haven't decided if I should call it from the dugout or the outfield. Apparently, both have really great views!

Screw green, it ain't easy being blue!

I won't be coming here that much anymore. I might check in now and again.
