Post Re: the video

Well, I couldn't stand it any longer, I'm the blue who took the video. I sent it to my friend just to see what he thought. I didn't intend to roast this umpire, he did alright except for missing this and I know its a tough call. I did try to subtly bring this to his attention early in the game. He chose to ignore it. I then asked another coach who was watching the game. He agreed that she was way out. That's when I went and got the UIC to take a look. He told me it was close and did nothing more. I have umpired at this level (national) and feel it should have been called. LJ57

Wow. Youre a blue.. you watched a game.. not only video'd it, but went and got a coach and a UIC over something that even the UIC stated was "close".

Then, you had the video posted all over the internet..

But you didnt intend to roast this BU?

I'm probably going to be the lone sheep yet again and say that your actions are unsat in my point of view.

MUCH WORSE than not calling a questionable at BEST IP call.

I would ignore you too if I knew you were that type.

Wait a second here. When he sent me the video all he wanted was my opinion. He had NO idea whatsoever I was going to post it on this forum. I just wanted to get others opinions on it. In no way was I roasting the umpire as you claim. If we can't ask for others ideas then why even have this forum? Dave

It's really very easy for us to sit here and run the video over and over and for LJ to stand back behind the backstop and watch this pitcher and her wide step.

The PU meanwhile has to concentrate on the pitch and its location. The PU better be 100% sure that the pitcher is outside the 24 inch width before making that call. Tough to do unless it is blatantly obvious.

Bottom line is that judgement is judgement. If the PU did not feel that this particular pitcher was in violation, I won't question him.
