quick question durning a pickle play once the tag had been apply does the ball have to be in the glove or can it be in oppsite hand ?

Do you mean ONCE the tag has been applied or do you mean WHILE the tag is applied? If you mean while the tag is applied, the tag has to be made with the glove while the ball is in the glove or the tag can be made with the hand without the glove as long as it has the ball in it. Dave

I saw a "double play" made a few weekends back...

The shortstop fielded a ball in the glove, took the ball out of the glove, tagged R1 coming from 2B with the empty glove and immediately threw to F3 to retire the BR.

I think this was the same crew that complimented a pitcher on her California Change Up.

Just had this on Sunday with adult men SP

R1 on 2B, R2 on 1B - Ground ball to F6

F6 holds out glove to tag R1, ball in other hand - I signal safe, no verbal call -R1 stops after 2 steps - F6 realizes mistake and throws to F5 for force at 3B

Offense all yelling that he missed the tag - I explain to coach/captain that I called his guy safe on the tag and out on the force at 3B - He thought about itt for about 15 seconds then said "I wondered why you changed your call from safe to out"

When he went back and told the other players what had happened they were like "Oh" - Then they were giving their teammate the business about not running
