Crash interference

... includes a runner remaining on her feet and running into the glove of the fielder making the tag attempt and thereby knocking the ball loose.

Just thought you'd want to know this.

Something tells me this is an interpretation by someone other than yourself?

Also...

For your information... I learned this tidbit just recently...

When you call ball 4 on a batter, it's an immediate dead ball. If the Batter is not permitted to legally advance during the dead ball then there does not exist a valid reason for the runners to also advance ... therefore they must stay at their base when the dead ball situation first occured.

A coach not only made this argument in a tournament this weekend, but was insistent about it. I told him if he could find this in the rule book, bring me the page and I would sign it for him.

Needless to say, he never brought me the page.

OK, I have one question - WHAT? Who in the world said that ball four was an immediate dead ball? Again, is my filter on? Am I missing something? Have I been sucked into a vortex?

Ball four is not a dead ball situation anymore than strike three - unless it's a HBP. Live ball, runners advance if forced or may advance at their own peril.

Steady, there, pilgrim!

Yes, you've been reeled in. I admit my first post was put up a bit troll-like in nature, posted without smilies and so on... but then SRW followed my model...

These are "coach rules"
