What's the call

Had a situation the other day in a HS/J.V. contest, NFHS rules. I was PU and the catcher was, in my opinion, occasionally reaching a tad bit too much for the ball. On this particular pitch the batter swung and the catcher immediately said "sorry- my bad" to the batter. The batter swung and missed the ball. Although I didn't detect it, I can only assume that the bat nicked the catchers glove. How do you as PU determine this, as it happens so quickly and isn't always obvious????? If the bat did contact the glove on the swing, and it was a strike would that not be catcher's interference and the coach of that team would have a choice of the result of that play or the award for catcher's interference?

Not if you are working a softball game

OK maybe I used the wrong terminology, as that would be considered catcher's OBSTRUCTION. Would the bat nicking the catcher's glove on a swinging strike be considered obstruction, or a no call? Just trying to clear this up in my mind:-)

Yes, it is CO, but awfully hard to call if you did not see or hear it.

What about using whatever information you have available, like the catcher reacting?

If I did not have some evidence (sight or sound) independent of F2's apology, I would not call it. Same thing, BTW, for the batter or coach arguing that there was CO. If I did not see it or hear it, then it did not happen.
